EXERCISES

The first task we are given is to do a world building proposal. We are to include the era, geolocation, theme, target audience, art direction, etc. We can either continue the world building concept from our previous semester, or make a new one from scratch. I decided to create a new one because I wanted to explore more themes and culture aside from South East Asia. So, I went for an European theme.

PROJECT 1

For our project 1, similar to what we had done in Character Design, our expected outcome is min. 1 Character w/ prop, a companion and a 3D sculpture.

PROJECT 2

For our project 2, we will do the character sheet for our main character and their companion.

Fig 2.1 Camilla Turnaround

Mr Kannan said the design is there, but it still feels lacking, and he said that the fishnets might pose a problem when sculpting.

Fig 2.2 Camilla Turnaround Refine #1

I've reduces the lines on the fishnets, but Mr Kannan said I should add some details on her clothes so that it doesn't look too bland. He also told me to change the font.

Fig 2.4 Ornacia Turnaround

At first, I don't really know how to properly color an owl so that happened. However, Mr Kannan taught me the technique to color feathers, so I applied that method and the feedback for Camilla's clothes as well.

Mr Kannan said I should darken some parts of the feathers so it has depth.

After hours of pain and suffering, it was time to render and touchup via Photoshop :')

It was a hectic journey overall and I really felt that I've made a lot of improvements compared to Semester 3. I will keep pushing myself to reach new heights and learn more skills and techniques in drawing/ sculpting :)
