Sketches and Zbrush Practices (Week 1- Week 6)
We were greeted by Mr Kannan for this module where we will be sculpting digitally a character of our own choice based on the design we will be making in Character Design. Throughout the next following weeks, we will be practicing drawing the anatomy of a human, inclusive of poses and body parts. Mr Ernesto will be correcting our drawings and teach us how to draw the human figure accurately and proportionately and as for Mr Kannan's class, he will be teaching us how to 3D Sculpt the human body for our original character from our Character Design module. We can also seek feedback from Mr Ernesto to correct our poses and body proportions from our Character Design Module.

Here is a compilation of all the drawings I've made throughout these 6 Weeks:

Week 1
I used some reference from Instagram and try to capture the body's structure, Mr Ernesto said the proportions could use some work and that I should continue practicing.

Week 2-4

Mr Ernesto sent us some reference via email and we have to draw them out as practice.

Zbrush Practice / Trial:

Week 5
This week, we showed our progress of a skull and a head + bust sculpture. I still need more practice as I'm not used to ZBrush yet.

Sculpting at first is hard, but after I got used to the shortcut keys and tools, I started to get the hang of it.

Week 6
Now, it is time to make a full body sculpture. I used the sketch tool in zbrush and made this monstrosity.

This sculpture is so unsettling that, I had nightmares.

Reflections

Experience

I really enjoy the experience so far and am glad to learn more of the human anatomy because I really struggle sometimes with it whenever I was doing my own personal projects, but nonetheless, I still have to practice even more.

Observations

I can see that I'm not alone who had struggles in proportions of the human body as my classmates were in the same shoes as I am. Some of my classmates however, were experienced as they had been practicing for a while, thus I had always been reaching out to them for advices before this module even started.

Findings

I find it crucial that we MUST look for references as we do not have any experiences like Mr Ernesto or Mr Kannan where they can accurately shape the human body at the back of their minds. It isn't shameful to look for references at all even if it has to be a nude body. Once again, practice makes perfect, so I still have a long way to go, but I will get there :)
