Final Project

Pre-Production (Week 1)

For our final project, we have to make a 30 seconds stop motion film with the following one of the mediums given to pick from: Clay, Paper, Mixed media or Legos. In the first week, we had already found some of our favorite stop motion videos to refer to / inspire us in making our own stop motion film based off the 3 PSA topics that we also picked.

3 Favorite Stop Motion videos :

Fig 1.1 Most Popular Girls in School

This is just comedic genius and I love it when I was younger. The smoothness of the dolls really improved compared to 10 years ago xD. (It is the remastered version after all)

Fig 1.2 Chainsaw Maid by Takena

This gave me nightmares but again, it is iconic (which is why I still remember until this day despite watching it when I was in Primary School).

Fig 1.3 Hi Stranger by Kirsten Lepore

Ah yes, the video that made people uncomfortable. Not for me, I liked it. T'was soothing.

3 PSA topics :
  1. Teasing
  2. Helmet Safety
  3. Crossing Streets
Moodboard (Week 4)

As part of our pre-production, we had to come up with a narrative or a moodboard on how we will execute our Final Project. Mr Martin listed some tasks for us to plan out :

1) Ideation:
1-2 paragraphs (The story is about ___. The theme of the story is ___. )

2) Art Direction:
Clay/paper-cut/Lego, set building, visual references.

3) 3 Act Structure:
Describe the story in 3 act structure:
- Act 1:
Once upon a time, there was ___.
Every day, ___.
Until One day ___.
- Act 2:
Because of that, ___.
Because of that, ___.
Because of that, ___.
- Act 3:
Until finally, ___.
And ever since then, ___.

The Moral of the story is ___.

I've decided that I will be choosing Crossing Streets as my finalized topic for my Final Project.

Below is my moodboard:

Feedback:
final project: I think the story still very flat, specially the act 2. Let’s try to improve it.
You current act 1 can be done in 5 secs with one shot. Let Satonaka phubbing instead of reading book

Act 2: They cross the road while pedestrian traffic light is red. An motorbike stops, to let them pass first, and leave. They didn’t notice. A car emergency brake to avoid hitting them, only satonake glimpses at the car but continue swiping phone. Now a truck coming fast cant brake…..

It took me 3 days and a lot of backpain but I did it !

Editing
Here is my first draft:

Feedback: Color correct it more, remove the stands of the figurines. For audio, make the ambience sound louder and make Yuki listen to more noisy music and EQ it in Adobe Audition.
