Project 2

Instructions :

PROJECT 2
Collateral (Week 8)

Project 2 is a continuation project from Project 1, we have to use our key artwork and integrate the element into 4 items, a poster, social media invitation (with subtle animations) and 2 objects of our choice such as: T-shirts, hats, bags, etc.

Figure 1.1 Poster

Figure 1.2 Social Media Invite

Figure 1.3 T-shirt #1

Figure 1.4 T-Shirt #2

Figure 1.5 Tote Bag #1
Mr Vinod said my collaterals should retain some elements from the poster, so I applied the pink color to my objects.

Figure 1.6 T-shirt #3

Figure 1.7 Mask
I made a mask because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Buy my mask, protect yourself.

Figure 1.8 Tote Bag #2

FINAL SUBMISSION:

Figure 2.1 Poster ; JPEG

Figure 2.2 Mask ; JPEG

Figure 2.3 Tote Bag ; JPEG

Figure 2.4 T-shirt ; JPEG

Figure 2.5 Compilation ; PDF

Figure 2.6 Social Media Invite ; GIF

Figure 2.7 Flat Lay
Not gonna lie, my designs look like they are inspired by breast cancer awareness.

Feedback

Week 8
General Feedback:
1) Key artwork has to be remain and not changed upon designing our poster.
2) We need to do our Project 1 and 2 by this week as we are falling behind in terms of time.

Specific Feedback:
Use Universe, Condensed for my "All Ripped up".
1) The arrow in my layout is taking too much space, and there's no need for highlight, instead just bold the letters.
2) use margins.

Week 9
Specific Feedback:
Increase the font size, adjust the direction of movement for the open public lectures to align with the text. My other collaterals: T-shirts and tote bag should retain some elements like the poster.

Reflection

Experience :
Week 8
I really struggled a lot for this project, made so many variations and layouts but none of them were hitting the mark. So I REALLY need to catch up with the class somehow. (come on brain, think)

Week 9
I've managed to finalize my key artwork and move on to Project 2 with the help of Mr Vinod. Needless to say, I was really slow on reaching the level of expectations from the lecturers and really need to expose myself more on typography.

Week 10
Class this week was less hectic because many of us are almost there with our Project 1 & 2.

Observations :
Week 8
Everyone's work is more or less looking like a key artwork, allowing them to advance to Project 2.

Week 9
Everyone is stressed lol.

Week 10
Apparently, many people's blogs are not constantly updated :O

Findings :
Week 8
I find it hard to make a key artwork in all honesty. It's like a logo but it's not. But what I do understand from it now is that, it should be a form that can be identified based on the elements used to design the layout. Be it graphical elements or unique typefaces or even color.

Week 9
I find that sometimes simplicity is good. The term less is more has been mentioned by our lecturers a lot and now I understand what it truly meant.

Week 10
I find out that Mr Vinod and Mr Shamsul get excited when a student mentions they are going for graphic design next semester. Hah, have fun. I'll just be the otaku I am at Entertainment Design.

We’re delighted to support this year’s London Design Festival, the first major design event to take place in the capital since lockdown.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Creative economies around the world have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and it’s more important than ever for design communities to stand together in these challenging times.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ With very little overseas travel taking place, this year’s @l_d_f_official will have a strong focus on the local. Visitors can walk between shows held in different design districts – these local clusters will be a defining feature of LDF 2020. So that as many people as possible can take part, look out for the Festival’s expanded online activity, including innovative ways of presenting design and promoting discussion.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ “The Festival has always been about the community of design, about designers coming together”, explains @domeniclippa, LDF’s design director since 2007. “Considering recent events, our idea is about reconfiguring the letters, words and numbers into any space we need it to – an infinite amount of solutions. Design is a community, and we need to behave as one.”⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ #LDF2020 runs from 12-20 September – visit the LDF website via the link in our bio to find out how you can get involved.
